Senior Citizens, Don’t Be Afraid to Get Out There!

istock_000007776750xsmallWhen you look at dating sites and the whole dating scene these days all you see are fresh, young faces and “sexy” people.  Now while we all know that not everybody on these sites looks like the models shown on the front pages, we also tend to forget about a certain demographic that needs some special attention in the dating scene.  The Senior Citizens.

I sincerely hope that the mentality towards Senior dating has changed from when my grandmother was alive.  When she hit 50 as a single woman, she closed up shop and assumed that her days as a partner to another human being were over.  She spent her time reading cheesy romance novels to fill that part of her and it made me so sad for her.  If only she had lived long enough to see the rise of the internet matchmaking site she might have had a different perspective on her status as a woman and a viable adult.

Besides talks of Viagra, there is surprisingly little on the internet in the way of the Senior dating scene.  Seniors seem to be the forgotten demographic…or they are expected to prey on the younger generations.  While the May-December relationship is not something we look down upon, Seniors should have better options where dating within their age group is concerned.

Here at Datester, we have 12 dating sites geared specifically towards Senior daters in our dating directory.  To find them, click on the Dating Directory tab at the top of the page, go to the Lifestyle/Fetish Dating page, and scroll down until you see the Senior Dating category.

For some additional reading regarding Senior Dating, feel free to check out the following pages!

SuddenlySenior.com is a funny page that is written specifically for the young at heart among you Seniors.  In this article, a hilarious view of the Senior dating scene is profiled.  It’s funny and smart.

“Although folks like Tony Bennett and Cher prove that we’ve all got a comeback in us, at our age every date severely tests that theory. Frequently, codger-daters turn to local dating services or the Internet in search of Mr. or Ms. Right.

LoveToKnow.com also provides an article for the Senior Datesters.  This article is encouraging and insightful.  It offers great suggestions as well as acknowledges what Senior daters go through.

“It’s true, you’re really only as old as you feel, and if you feel like you still have a lot to offer someone romantically, then by all means, get out there and dive into the seniors dating scene. You’ll be glad you did.”

eZineArticles.com provides an article that is poorly written but contains some fantastic dating ideas for Senior Datesters.  If you haven’t been in the dating scene for a while and are worried about what a date consists of these days, check out this article.  You’ll find it very helpful.

“Mature people dating is centred on companionship the feeling of somebody being with you by your side, enjoying your company as much as you enjoy theirs. It is about talking to one another about days gone by, appreciating each other.”

Please don’t feel that your age is a hindrance to your love life.  If you are lonely and longing for companionship or even love, it is out there for you at your fingertips.  A dating experience as a mature and vibrant adult has the potential to be so much more fulfilling than it was in the teenage and early adult years.  Don’t deprive yourself of all of life’s experiences.  Get out there.
