Site Review: Afro Introductions

23 February 2009 1,742 views No Comment

afrointroductionsAfroIntroductions.com is an African mathcmaking site that functions on an international scale.  This makes it the most wide-spread black matchmaking site that I have reviewed so far.  Needless to say, I have high hope for this site.  Let’s begin, shall we?

First of all, I adore the design of the front page and the logo.  The design is clean and follows a template that is typical of quality niche sites, but it also has a unique feel to it.  Matchmaking sites can tend to look very cold and manufactured, so any small thing to make the site look more aesthetically unique is terrific.

Signing up for the site takes a little bit longer than is usually typical, but that is only because you are made to go through the checklists of what you are and what you are looking for.  It’s time well spent.  Because of these long checklists, your searches will be more specific.

As a free member, you can really use quite a lot of this site.  If paying for a matchmaking site makes you uncomfortable, you can use this site and have a fruitful experience on a free membership.  However, if you are not uncomfortable with paying for a matchmaking site, pricing breaks down as follows:

Gold Membership

-1 Month is $24.99

-3 Months are $49.99

-6 Months are $74.99

-12 Months are $99.99

Platinum Membership

-1 Month is $29.99

-3 Months are $59.99

-6 Months are $99.99

-12 Months are $119.99

This pricing is very competitive with other niche sites.  The fact that becoming a paying member actually entitles you to some extras makes the deal only sweeter.

This site boasts 845,000 members.  While I was going through the site there were 437 members online using the site.  This suggests an active community.  845,000 members are not a lot of people, but you wanted a niche site and you got it!  Niche sites tend to be more personal.

I like this site.  It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, which I tend to like, because the whole “Search” thing can get old.  I’m not missing that stuff on this site, though (although it should not be missed that a chat system is available).  This site is a nice little niche site. It provides an atmosphere that will make members comfortable.  When comfortable, people are brave and will start a conversation. A conversation can lead to a lot more.  All of this, thanks to a niche site.
