Sex on the first date lead to trouble?

“He won’t respect me tomorrow.”

“I’m such a slut.”

“I’m so glad I didn’t wait until the fourth date for that.”

It’s a personal choice to either hold off or to have sex on the first date. If you get caught up in the moment and “OOPS” you just sort of boinked your dates, don’t be ashamed. There’s nothing wrong at all with getting caught up in the moment. However, if you find yourself having more first dates with sex and less second dates, you might want to rethink your dating strategy. Unless you are casually dating and having fun, it might not be a bad idea to use this wonderful thing some of us like to call, “better judgment.” If your ultimate goal in dating is to have a lasting relationship, think before diving head first into your date’s lap.

Let’s say you met your date on an online dating site and have been talking ot them via electronic messaging and phone for a while. When the time finally comes for the two of you to meet face to face and your date is amazing and you feel a definite physical connection, don’t be afraid to act on your impulses. More people need to be spontaneous like that. If you aren’t ready to take the relationship to the sexual level, then hold off. But please, please PLEASE don’t use sex as a way to manipulate your date.

Don’t hold off for the main purpose to keep them interested in you. If they are genuinely interested in you on the first date, the odds are good that they will stay interested…sex or no sex. If they don’t like you and you put out, they’re still not going to like you. You just became a notch on their belt.

If you’re happy with your life at the moment and you’re dating simply to meet people and have fun then by all means, go at it at your own discretion. PLEASE be smart about it and use protection. Just because you’re having fun doesn’t mean you should jeopardize your health and lifestyle for what most likely will only be a 15 minute roll in the hay.

We live in a sexually open society in sexually open times. Enjoy yourselves. Get your freak on if your mood so inclines. Just think and use protection.
