When you think of a typical date, no doubt “dinner and a movie” come to mind. It has the elements that are likely to create a wonderful evening. Let’s face it, dinner and a movie is a classic date used to decades. Decades. Decades? Wow, that means that the youngest of our dating singles right now had grandparents who enjoyed the “dinner and a movie” date. Perhaps there’s something to be said about throwing out the old to make way for the new.

There are literally hundreds of date choices out there today. Vary it up a little bit. “Dinner and a movie” is so safe…even boring. Choosing a date should be taken as an opportunity to show what kind of person you are. It’s a chance to be creative. What do you like to do? What are your interests? Use that to choose a date.

Personally, I like to make a study of the people with whom I spend my time. I enjoy dates set in a laid back atmosphere so that I can talk with my date and get a feel for their personality. I’m leery of strangers so if I am to be with a person, I’m going to get to know them. Picnics, cafes, movies on my couch, cocktails, and taking my telescope out on a dark night are great dates for me. However, despite anything written previously in this post, “dinner and a movie” can be a very enjoyable date. I think that such an antiquated date should be saved for more seasoned relationships. After comfort has settled into a relationship, a nice steak and a great comedic flick can make for a great night out and you aren’t left wanting for more. And besides, only in a seasoned and comfortable relationship can you turn to your date who is gabbing during the movie, smile sweetly, and tell them to shut up.
